February 24, 2018 Tokyo, Japan Jazz Critique Magazine, one of the major jazz magazines in Japan reviewed 'Seeking Higher Ground'. This is the sophomore album of Japanese born Maguire Twins, whose mother is Japanese. Producer, Donald Brown, who taught the twins, hand picked the accompanying artists, all of which are active and strong world class jazz musicians. The first tune opens up with powerful solos from Bill Mobley and Gregory Tardy, along with Aaron Goldberg coming in full throttle with his groovy and hard bop-ish piano straight from the get go. The young twins rose to the occasion alongside these veteran jazz artists. Most of the tunes are original compositions by the members of the band and they are all brilliant works that jazz fans can’t miss out on. They are seeking higher ground with a high level of delightful hard bop! (by Suzuck)
